Southern Cruiser Crawl '08

This past weekend was our annual Southern Cruiser Crawl with the Cottonland Cruisers! We arrived in Birmingham at Gray Rock ORV park on Friday afternoon and were immediately in a race with the sun to get the camp set up. Joshua and I got everything set up just in the nick of time. Afterwards, we visited with friends we haven't seen in a while, had some adult beverages, met new people, and sat around the campfire. Then bedtime came. WHAT A NIGHTMARE is all I can say. I honestly don't believe I have ever been so cold in my entire life. I don't think I slept more than 2 hours throughout the whole night because I was freezing so bad. I think we may need to invest in a new insulated tent of some sort. We awoke Saturday morning to cold dew on the ground and you could see your breath in the air when you breathed. Not my idea of fun. Needless to say, I will not be doing that EVER again. Sunlight came up Saturday morning and the fun began! We all had a little breakfast, suited up, grabbed the bag of trail mix and a few good cd's and hit the trails. The new cruiser did SO well and Joshua did VERY well. I have to say I was very proud of him driving that thing. I know I couldn't have done it. Greg was our spotter and he was so patient and so willing to help. We couldn't have asked for a better person to guide us along through the trails. We got to the canyon that I did not want to participate in so I decided to take this opportunity for some "Lindsey Time". Joshua rode through the canyon with another friend and I stayed back at the truck. I found a big shaded tree and took a seat with a book in one hand and trail mix in the other. BLISS! Enjoyed all 30 minutes of it. Anyways, got back to camp and had some late lunch and again sat around catching up with friends. Saturday evening was the delicious BBQ dinner and raffle time. We didn't get so lucky at the raffle this year, but, the cheese biscuits at dinner were worth it all! After all the festivities of the evening, we headed back to camp (where I said I would never sleep again). Luckily Joshua agreed with me and said the tent was too cold to sleep in. So, we packed the bed up and moved it to the cruiser. Laid down the seats in the back, bundled up, stretched out, and slept like little babies. MUCH nicer evening. I actually thought it was pretty neat to wake up in the truck Sunday morning with the sunlight peeking through. Joshua and I agreed we would take more time to do things like this from now on. Sort of like a little adventure. Anyways, we got up and packed up our camp and got on the road by noon. By this time we were both missing Brooklyn and ready to get home. Melted my heart when Joshua woke up Sunday morning and said "Let's go home, I miss my little girl". What a great daddy! Now, its 365 more days till Southern Cruiser Crawl 09!
